When you become a member of the Institute, you join a national network of practicing managers. Through periodic seminars, workshops and dinner meetings, and our nationally distributed publication - The Canadian Manager - you will be kept current with the latest management developments. As well, the Institute aims to encourage mutual assistance among its members through the exchange of knowledge and shared experience in management techniques.
In addition to providing opportunities for fellowship and social and professional networking, the Institute has long sponsored an eight-subject study course, which leads to the well-known professional designation - C.I.M. (Certified In Management). Over the years, many thousands of individuals from business, government, and a wide variety of industries have enhanced their careers by meeting our academic requirement, thereby earning a Certificate in Management & Administration and granted the C.I.M. designation through continuous membership in CIM
Senior managers may qualify for the P.Mgr. (Professional Manager) designation through a combination of work experience, documented high level responsibility and/or educational qualifications. Professional Managers are expected to adhere to a strict code of ethics and to take a leading role in shaping the future of the Institute.
Finally, the F.CIM (Chartered Manager) designation is available to those who have achieved academic accomplishments in management beyond the CIM program and may apply these credits toward the 20 courses required for the F.CIM designation.
The Canadian Institute of Management conducts Information/Registration sessions for individuals interested in learning more about the program.
