Why should I become a member?
It is the aim of the Institute to offer the membership to all individuals and organizations wishing to further our aims and objectives. Therefore, there are several classifications of the membership:
CIM Membership Levels
Individual Membership
The Canadian Institute of Management provides an individual the opportunity for professional development through membership in the organization.
Accredited, General, Student and Life membership with the Institute provides an opportunity for self development. Membership provides national networking with practising managers to facilitate the exchange of knowledge. Through periodic seminars, workshops and meetings, and a subscription to our nationally distributed publication - The Canadian Manager - you will keep pace with the latest developments.
Accredited Member
Accredited members are those who, having met the Institute's requirements, are entitled to use the following designations after their names:
- C.I.M. - Certified In Management
- P.Mgr. - Professional Manager
- F. CIM - Chartered Manager
General or Student Member
General or Student members are:
- those who have met the admission requirement for the education program(s) and are currently enrolled in those programs
- individuals who do not qualify under other classifications but, by virtue of their background, education and/or experience wish to hold membership for purposes of their own general interests
- graduates of the Institute's 2-year "Certificate in Supervisory Management" course requirements
Life Members
Life member recognition is garnered to a member of the Institute who is recognized as contributing exemplary service to the Branch and/or at the National level.
Corporate Membership
Corporate membership provides companies the opportunity for the professional development of their employees and tangible benefits for the organization. Membership will provide access to Canada's top professionals and participation in our meetings and seminars can help you communicate your message to this key target group through advertising, promotion and display. Many more benefits are available through the services of CIM and its branch offices across Canada.

Membership Fee Schedule
The Canadian Institute of Management is a non-profit organization. Fees are established by individual branches based on their local costs.

*The billing cycle of the fees in the above Membership Fee Schedule works as follows:
The membership year starts on June 1st of the current year and ends on May 31st of the next year. Any member applying for or renewing membership on June 1st will be paying for a full year's membership fee.
Any person applying for membership between January 1st and March 15th of the membership year will be required to pay 50% of the annual membership fee and will be registered as an active member from the date the registration and payment processes are completed. Such members will receive a renewal notice on or before April 30th and will be able to renew for a complete year from then on.
Any person applying for membership between March 16th and May 31st of the membership year will have their membership application deferred to the next membership year and will be required to pay a full year's membership fee. Such members will be registered as an active member from the date the registration and payment processes are completed, i.e. at the start of the next membership year to which their application is deferred. Such members will receive a renewal notice towards the end of the membership year to renew for a complete year of membership.
